A workshop on the Suzuki violin method is being held at Hornby High School on May 8 to 10. The guest tutor is Cathy Shepheard, an Australian who studied with Dr Suzuki in Japan and has worked as a teacher trainer in Australia and Europe.

. The South Island branch of the Suzuki Institute was formed last year. Most members are associated with classes conducted at the Christchurch School of Instrumental Music, and there are groups in Timaru, Oamaru and Reefton. The secretary is Alastair Sands, telephone 384-256.
