The National Conference and Workshop is almost upon us, and it is going to be the finest we have had, with everyone participating bound to learn a great deal.
The membership of the Institute continues to grow, and many new teacher-trainees will be attending the conference.
Sadly, Kathy Shelhart is leaving for Australia on the Sunday of the conference, but until then, she will be actively involved with the cello students. Along with Beverley Nation, Elsie Kane, and Val Thorburn, she will be working with students in chamber music, musical perception, and other musical activities.
On Friday night, Graduation Certificates and Teachers’ Certificates will be presented to those present. Remaining certificates will be sent out immediately after the conference. A concert will follow the presentation, with tutors and teachers participating.
On Sunday night, there will be the final concert at 7:00 pm in the High School Hall. All members and their families are welcome.
It is still possible to enrol for the conference. Arrive on Wednesday at 5:00 pm or Thursday at 8:00 am at the Hamilton Boys High School to register—you will be welcomed.

Hamilton Branch Update
The Institute has invited Mr. Joachim Neupert, a young German Suzuki violinist and violist with excellent credentials, to join the Hamilton Suzuki community. He will take over Kathy Shelhart’s role, ensuring continuity in violin and viola instruction.
About Joachim Neupert:
Joachim comes with extensive Suzuki teaching experience and is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of Suzuki music in Hamilton.
About Karin Neupert:
Joachim’s wife, Karin, is a graduate flautist from the Sweelinck Conservatorium, Amsterdam. She will join the Hamilton Suzuki community as a flute teacher, further broadening the range of Suzuki instruction available.
This exciting development reflects the ongoing commitment of the NZSI to provide high-quality teaching and support for the musical growth of students.
