Enhancing Our Teaching Foundation with Merlin Thompson

19 January 2022 @ 9:00 am 10:00 am

A free online presentation by Merlin Thompson for NZ Suzuki Tutors as part of the South Island’s Summer Events Online.

How can Suzuki teachers meet their students’ evolving musical and personal needs? What is necessary to sustain students’ interest in musical pursuits throughout their youthful years and beyond? I think we can all agree Suzuki teachers build on an important foundation of student, parent, and teacher, mother tongue learning, in addition to music as an interpretive art that nurtures personal wellbeing. Now as we think about meeting the needs of today’s students, I’d like to suggest that it may be time for Enhancing Our Teaching Foundation.

My Suzuki Tutor Presentation on January 19 will address how today’s Suzuki teachers may respond. Please join me to find out how updating the overarching questions about teaching and what we now know about learning (that previously we didn’t) may spark something most remarkable for our own professional practice and our students’ musical persona. We’ve already got music in motion – now let’s see how fresh thoughts and strategies can generate meaningful and lifelong musical inspiration.

I hope to see you there. Merlin Thompson
